Winterization Program 2021-2022 Season
Our Winterization Procedures for Engines
This is what we do for you:
- Winterization of Boat
- $45 Per Pump (Antifreeze $10.00 per Gallon)
- $90 for Black Water System
- $20 per battery to check, clean and disconnect (required if storing at Whaletowne) - Add fuel stabilizer and Ethanol treatment to fuel and replace filters on engine (Quickleen $13.86 Quickare $11.73 Quickstore $13.86 Filter cost and quantity required varies with both boat and engine size)
- Service lower unit to ensure that the lower unit does not contain any contaminants such as water, metal, etc. We change the lower unit lubricant, remove the propeller and re-grease the shaft as well as inspect the rear oil seal. If your propeller needs to be reconditioned this will be done at an additional charge. If reconditioning is recommended after inspection, you will be contacted with an estimate so you can decide to either recondition or replace the propeller. (HP Gear oil $24.00 per unit, Grease $9.00 per engine)
- Due to electrolysis we will inspect and replace oxidized zincs as necessary.
(Cost for parts additional) - On all digital (4 Stroke, Verado and OptiMax) engines we will run a diagnostic check with the CDS (Computer Diagnostic System) and change all filters, spark plugs (if necessary) along with decarburizing the engine. We will advise you at this time if the CDS shows any shortcomings (Oil $11.14 per qt. Filter and spark plug cost additional and vary with engine size)
- Lubricate external steering shaft, tilt tube and other moving parts with Mercury lubricant and spray engine with corrosion guard to help prevent corrosion.
- Spray fogging oil while engine is running through intake ports to protect internal parts (pistons, rings and bearings) per manufacturer’s recommendations. OptiMax and Verado require the removing of spark plugs and injecting fogging oil directly into cylinders.
(Non-ethanol Aviation fuel mix with stabilizers $12.50 per unit)
Winterize Boat Completely
In addition to the above, we will check and repair as needed electrical system and water system(s). There are additional labor and parts charges for these services. Owners will be contacted before any repairs, that are not part of winterization practices, are preformed.
NOTICE: It is your responsibility to EMPTY all porta-potties and holding tanks, so we are able to properly winterize your head system. Charge of $250.00 MINIMUM will be assessed for any tank which must be emptied by Whalertowne. Porta-Potty’s will be disposed of and replaced. *Can Not Be Pumped Out Mobile*

Winterization Request 2021-2022 Season
Winterization Labor Prices (including Tune-up and Service of engine) All parts/Transport/Tolls additional
- Chesapeake Whalertowne is authorized to perform work, including labor for the prices stated as well as any parts and materials needed to complete the authorized service work order. A $200.00 deposit is required before work will begin
- I agree not to hold Chesapeake Whalertowne liable for loss or damage to real or personal property caused by theft, fire or any other cause while boat or trailer is in for repairs, storage or sale.
Customer is responsible for removal of ALL cushions, isinglass, life jackets, waters sports equipments and personal items. All Covers, aside from Mooring cover and Engine cover to be used in lieu of shrink wrapping, MUST be removed and stored by customer. Chesapeake Whalertowne will not be responsible for lost items.
Payment for services and parts is due upon notification of completion of the services and to be rendered either by check, Visa, Master Card, Discover Card or in cash. If payment is not received within 30 days, a 3% service fee will be added to your invoice. This fee will be assessed on the first of every month and shall be assessed on the total unpaid balance (which may include service fees from previous assessments) If you feel there is a discrepancy call us immediately to resolve or service charges will still apply on any unpaid balance.
Storage charges of $30 per week will be added to all items not picked up within 2 weeks after notification of completion of services unless previously arranged with the Service Department.
All parts removed will be discarded unless otherwise specified. If you would like your used parts saved, please indicated to do so.
Payment Method: Credit cards will NOT be charged automatically upon completion. We will send an invoice with a total, minus $200 deposit, so that you can review all work done. Payment will be processed in full on the card fifteen (15) days from invoice date if payment is not received in full prior to then.

Below is a list of the current engines installed on our Boston Whalers. This pricing is an estimate for basic parts and additional parts may be needed which would be a additional charges. Maryland Sales tax (6%) is also an additional charge. Basic Parts Used: Oil Filters, Oil, Seals, Grease, Lower Gear Oil and Fuel Filters

All boats shrink wrapped will be charged to wash boat @ $5.00/ft.
We utilize shrink wrap that is 8 ml thick and more durable than thinner material used by several of our competitors. It does however need to be replaced every two years if boat is left in long term storage and not used over a season. Cost to re-shrink wrap is the owner's responsibility.
